Sandra Nasic was born in Germany on the 25th of May 1976. Her parents are both Croatian. She has one sister, called Lydia (Lilly), who seems to be older then Sandra. Her father was a guitar player in a rockband in his home country Croatia. But he and Sandra's mum got divorced and Sandra's dad went suddenly back to Croatia. Sandra's mum stood in Germany (Göttingen) with her two wonderful girls. Sandra said she would not worry to much about the divorce because this way would be better then to live in a never ending fight. She now lives for almost three years in Berlin.
After finishing the "Realschule" Sandra decided to go further in school and did the Abitur. After she had reached that, she planned to study in design & arts and was already running around from company to company, to introduce herself as suddenly the success for Guano Apes came up.
Sandra loves movies (specially science fiction like Starwars and Star Trek but also Apocalypse Now, Lost or cartoons), videogames (PS2: Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, Burnout or Bioshock), Currywurst and Spaghetti Bolognese, "The Perfume" from Patrick Süßkind and the "Neverending Story" from Michael Ende; books, all kinds of music from HipHop to Alternative Dance to Metal. Fans love her clothing style but she doesn't care too much about that as long as the clothes are comfortable or/and funny. She is 1,64m small and tries to keep her weight up to arround 50 kg. Her hairstyle and -color changes so often, that we can't mention but her natural colour seems to be kind of blond with an cuprous touch.
Sandra has been the last member that joined Guano Apes. She was already singing in some other bands but she knew they were not good enough and was looking for the right band as suddenly she met the three Guano Apes guys (Henning, Stefan & Dennis). She liked their style and they loved her voice so the Guano Apes were born.
From 1993 till 2005 the Guano Apes were a famous international band. They had many hits in Germany, the Netherlands and the rest of the world/Europe. Most famous songs are: " Open you're eyes", Lords of the Boards" and Big in Japan". They released three official albums and a few Best off/live CD's ands DVD's. Sandra wrote the lyrics by herself. The lyrics usually have a double meaning. Sandra says she writes all her texts based on the music sounds instead of making music based on lyrics. In February 2005 the Guano Apes broke up and Sandra started to work for her solo career.
Sandra Nasic also worked with a German hiphop/metal band: Saprize, metal band Apocalyptica, hiphoppers DJ Tomekk, ICE-T and punk/house DJ T.Raumschmiere. But the most people will known Sandra from the German crossover band Guano Apes.
With Guano Apes Sandra won several awards. In 2001 Sandra also won the award for best female performer- The Eins Live (German tv show) award. During this award show, while receiving her award; Sandra called up all the women in the music biz to write their lyrics by their selves. She hates it to be compared with Gwen Stefani, as Sandra says: "she is a good singer with nice looks but she is not writing her lyrics by herself!"
In September 2007, Sandra came back for her solocareer. In the end of September she released her debut single, which is a double track: "Fever / Name of my Baby". In the videoclip of "Name of my Baby" she performs with a band from Berlin: "The Crack Whore Society. (where Marco Haas also known as T.Raumschmiere plays drums) A week later her album CD came out in shops, and it's called: "The Signal". Different then Guano Apes, this CD has a good mix of pop rock and electro dance tracks. This time Sandra not only wrote her lyrics, she also produced her songs. But not only for herself Sandra is producing songs, also for other (starting) bands, like Unexplained Bleeding Wounds.
At the moment, Sandra is searching for a (mixed male/female) band to play live with.
As soon as her band is complete, she will go touring again.
